RELIGION

It is apparent that many people do not understand what "religion" is and what it can do for them. It is this misunderstanding that makes many pe ople reject 'religion'. One main misunderstanding is that 'having religion' prevents the person from enjoying life because one has to be stern faced and never laugh and be always telling people what terrible sinners they are. This is not 'Bible religion' at all!

DEFINITION:

Simply put, "religion" is an understanding of what God has promised us all through the Bible. Astounding as it may seem, basically, God promises eternal life in return for living a good life now . Many people already live such a "good life" without religion. They are not WICKED. They show the world a life motivated by high uncompromising principles. For them, the addition of a few simple rules for daily life could mean they could eventually live for ever. Can anyone else promise you that with any guarantee of it happening? The simple answer is....NO!

THE PROMISE OF ETERNAL LIFE:

Our respect for the Bible is based on accepting it as God's word. We read in that word, in Romans 6:23...."The gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord." Many people have been taught by their Churches that they have eternal life...... that they have an "immortal" soul, but the Apostle Paul maintains that this gift of immortality can ONLY be gained through Jesus Christ. What is he talking about?

WHAT IS SALVATION?

To understand what the Apostle Paul is talking about, we have to have some positive understanding of what "salvation" is. This word has been used loosely by religious teachers down through the centuries. Many people understand "salvation" as having their "immortal soul" taken to heaven at death, and so they assume they will continue to have an existence with God in heaven. It is a surprise to most people to learn that the Bible does not teach this. Solomon, one of the wisest men to ever live, tells us that..." The living know that they shall die, but the DEAD KNOW NOT ANYTHING." (Ecclesiastes 9:5). It is from this death state of knowing nothing and simply being a dead person, that we need salvation. The Bible promise is just that.....salvation from eternal death to eternal life. It's that simple.

HOW DO WE GET IT?

The answer to that question is clear and one of the easiest to find in the Bible. The Apostle Mark wrote..."He that believeth and is baptised ....shall be saved.".....(Mark 16:16). What does he mean by SAVED? He means......... SAVED FROM ETERNAL DEATH..

WHERE DO WE FIND THESE BELIEFS?

The words of Jesus in John 5:39 give the answer...."Search the Scriptures; for in them ye think ye have eternal life." So Mark tells us that we must believe something and Jesus adds to that by instructing us to "search the Scriptures...", if we wish to have eternal life. What part of the Scriptures? Well, Jesus went on to say about the Scriptures that, "they are they which testify of me". This simply means that in the Scriptures are records which tell us of Jesus....the reason for His birth and what that birth means to us.

WHAT DO WE HAVE TO BELIEVE?

    * Jesus was (is) the Son of God..."This is my beloved Son..".(Mat.3:17)

    * Jesus is now mediator between God and man..." One mediator between God and man...the man Christ Jesus."...(1 Tim.2:5)

    * By being baptised into Christ, we 'put on Christ' .."For as many of you as have been baptised into Christ, have put on Christ"..(Gal.3:27)

    * Those who have been baptised into Christ are then heirs to the great promises made to Abraham. To inherit those promises, the heirs, which can be you and me, are promised resurrection when Jesus returns...."The Lord himself shall decend from heaven with a shout......and the dead in Christ shall RISE FIRST..."..(1 Thess 4:16)

People who have been baptised into Christ and are still alive at His coming, will join those that have been

brought back to life. If found worthy to inherit eternal life, they will be given that reward and will be

immortal people in a world made new....."Thou..hast made us unto our God kings and priests and we

shall reign on the earth."...(Rev 5:10)

THAT IS THE SIMPLE RECORD OF RELIGION.

In return for faith and obedience by baptism into Jesus Christ and a life devoted to the opposite to wickedness, the Bible promises eternal life in a world made new. Why not investigate that promise now. It's a true promise and it's in the Bible.

WHY NOT READ YOUR BIBLE NOW AND INVESTIGATE ITS PROMISES!
