to the Second Version of Bible Reference Exporter
Introduction
With the first version we concentrated on the exporting of passages
from a user generated list. This second version introduces a number
of new functions and improves useability. Please read this short
help file to become familiar with how BRE works and what it can
do for you.
What to use BRE for
1. Browsing the Bible using different version.
2. Conducting searches for words and phrases.
3. Do the Daily Bible Readings using the standard reading chart
used by Christadelphians worldwide.
4. Create lists of references.
5. Export the full passages into documents.
6. Extracting references from imported documents.
New features in BRE v2
1. A tab for Daily Readings.
2. A library facility for organising the folders
you regularly use for saving BRE files, permitting fast retrieval
of saved files.
3. A list of presets for formatting extracted
passages.
4. Export or save passages and lists using a
wide variety of document formats.
These include...
• bre . extract list
• rtf . rich text format
• txt . text file
• htm . html
• brx . Bible reference list
• csv . comma separated values (spreadsheet
workbook format)
5. Sort lists using book sequence or alphabetically.
6. A tab for search results.
7. A "locate" function for full context
viewing of search, favourite and extract verses.
Using
BRE • LEFT INDEX TAB
Click on a book, a chapter and a verse.
The right chapter window displays that verse within the chapter.
Now click on a verse and hold down the left mouse button and drag
downwards. A group of verses are now highlighted.
Right click on the highlighted verses and a pop-up menu will appear.
You can either send the highlighted verses to your Extract List
or to your Favourites.
Choose 'Add
to Extracts'
A reference now appears in the middle Extract window.
If you want to add a single verse, double click on the verse number.
Using
BRE • MIDDLE EXTRACT WINDOW
The extract window has five buttons. These are sort list, add
new entry, delete item, move item up and move item down.
Click on the 'new' button.
Type in 1k
BRE automatically shows 1 Kings
Type in 5
BRE now displays 1 Kings 5v
Press right arrow and type in 3
Press right arrow again and type 12
BRE now displays 1 Kings 5v3-12
Press down arrow or enter to finish
Down arrow completes the entry and begins a new one.

}
Once you have entered a list of references you may want to order
them better.
Click on the first button to sort.
Click once to order the list using book order
Click again to order the list using reverse book order
Clicking again will order it alphabetically, and again for the
reverse.
Using BRE • SEARCH FUNCTION
Click on the search tab to the left.
Type a word in the first input box, such as 'water' or 'hide'
Pressing enter or clicking on Go will initiate a search.
Type in hid* and enter
There are 250 finds, including the words Hiddekel,
hid, hide, hidden
Use this wildcard feature to find words you have trouble spelling.
Using BRE • RIGHT EXTRACT LIST
Click on the bottom extract tab to the right. (you may have to
click on the arrow button to see the tab)
This displays the passages that feature in your extract list.
The passage can have different layouts such as Book and Chapter
before the passage, with the verse number before each verse.
This can be changed by clicking on View . Presets
Select a preset option and watch the layout change.
We've included the most popular layouts under View . Presets
You can also choose more layouts by clicking on View . Options

COPYING TO CLIPBOARD }
To
quickly copy your passages for use in MS Word, right click in
the Extract List window.
Choose 'Select All'
Right click again and choose 'Copy'
Change to MS Word and Right Click and choose 'Paste'
Using
BRE • VIEW . OPTIONS MENU
The layouts can be changed for both chapter and extracts
Also choose Custom Titles under Book Titles on the General menu,
if you wish to have longer or shorter book names. After choosing
this option, you can change the book names under the Custom titles
menu.
{ LIBRARY }
Use the Library menu to add folders where you normally save bre
or related files.
Click on new and add a few folders.
Now Click on OK at the bottom
Click on File at the top menu bar and near the bottom you will
see Library
If you've added some folders, you will see that these display
in another menu alongside Library, and these expand to show the
files in each folder.
This allows quick access to saved files.
Using BRE • SAVING AND EXPORTING
Once you have generated a list you must first save the bre file.
( File . Save )
The native bre file contains all the references
and settings such as versions used for each passage included.
Once saved, click on File . Export
Choose a document format from the dropdown box.
If you want to use the passages for a webpage, choose htm
For use in articles and talks choose rtf.
For use in a spreadsheet, choose csv
Plus there is a new option for exporting just the references.
Choose brx for a reference list without the passages.
Using BRE • IMPORTING
BRE can extract lists of references that occur within a document.
Click on File . Import
Choose a Bible version from the dropdown, and then navigate to
the file and click OK.
A list will appear in the middle Extract window.
Examine the list and delete any entries which aren't valid.
Using
BRE • VIEW FULL MENUS
To see complete menus from the top toolbar, click on View . Toolbars
. Customise
Click on the 'Options' tab and uncheck the Menus show recently
used commands first.
