Henry Ford once
said, ”If you think you can or think you can’t. you’re right!”
This little saying
is over almost before it begins and yet the lesson it teaches
is powerful. It agrees with the words of Christ who said,
”If thou canst believe, all things are possible to him that
believeth.’
All great acts were once only an idea. The way we think determines
what we are and this is why Solomon said ”For as a man thinketh
in his heart. so is he.”
We are the product of our thinking. Negative thoughts are
rampant today. The hospitals are full of those who are defeated
because they don’t think right. In order to be a success,
in order to be happy, in order to be acceptable to God, we
must think positively.
Christ taught
us to think we can, to have faith, to believe. He said, ”whatsoever
ye shall ask in prayer, believing, ye shall receive.” He told
His disciples that if they had faith even as a grain of mustard
seed, they could move mountains. He chided Peter when he began
to sink because he said the wind boisterous and was afraid.
Jesus said, ”0 thou of little faith. wherefore didst thou
doubt?” Peter was able to walk on the water when he thought
he could but when he looked about and began to doubt, he sank.
We also can walk over the stormy sea of life if only we will
have faith in God and believe that what He has promised He
will surely perform. If we begin to doubt, then the waves
of trouble will sweep over us and we shall sink. To help keep
us afloat, Paul told us to keep our minds on positive things.
He said to us, ”Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true,
whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just,
whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely,
whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue,
and if there be any praise, think on these things,”
If we will only
remember that we are what we think, that all things are possible
to him that believeth, that whatsoever we shall ask in prayer,
believing, we shall receive, then we will develop a strong
robust faith that is well pleasing to God and we will discover
that goodness and mercy shall follow us all the days of our
life and we will dwell in the house of the Lord for ever.
Remember, ”If you think you can, or think you can’t, you’re
right!”
