Regarding the fact that the man-child "appears" to be Christ, and yet is not, I would suggest a good example of this sort of thing is Solomon. Here is one who appeared to fulfil the promises of the seed to David, and yet by the end of his life he is utterly apostate.
Revelation also picks up on the Solomon types, for the apostacy on the surface looks like it is Godly, but a closer inspection shows it to be anything but.
Consider the following table. Each link by itself may not seem significant, but the number of links between the apostasy in Rev and the later years of Solomon’s life add up.
BTW, this table is a work in progress, there are probably lots more links that could be added.
Rev   1Kings   13:18 “...the number of the beast...is six hundred and sixty-six. 10:14 “Now the weight of gold which came in to Solomon in one year was 666 talents of gold” 17:1-2 "Come here, I shall show you the judgment of the great harlot who sits on many waters, with whom the kings of the earth committed acts of immorality...”
11:1-2 Now King Solomon loved many foreign women along with the daughter of Pharaoh: Moabite, Ammonite, Edomite, Sidonian, and Hittite women, from the nations concerning which the LORD had said to the sons of Israel, "You shall not associate with them, neither shall they associate with you, {for} they will surely turn your heart away after their gods." Solomon held fast to these in love.
17:4-5 “ ...full of abominations …THE ABOMINATIONS OF THE EARTH." 11:5 For Solomon went...after Milcom the abomination of the Ammonites. “abomination” – same word in LXX, also 11:33 17:4-5 “a gold cup” 10:21 “and all King Solomon's drinking vessels were of gold” 17:4-5 “precious stones” 10:2, 11
Almost all OT refs to precious stones are to do with Solomon 18:3, 9 “the kings of the earth” 4:34, 10:23 “kings of the earth” in historical OT books this phrase is unique to Solomon’s reign (see also 2Chron 9:22, 23) 18:11 “the merchants” 10:15, 28 “besides that from the traders and the wares of the merchants...” “and the king's merchants procured them from Kue for a price.”
Merchants are an almost unique characteristic of Solomon’s reign. 18:12 “gold, precious stones” 10:11 “brought gold...and precious stones.” 18:12 “costly wood” 10:11-12 “brought in from Ophir a very great number of almug trees...and the king made of the almug trees supports for the house of the LORD and for the king's house, also lyres and harps for the singers; such almug trees have not come in again, nor have they been seen to this day.”
Only time this sort of language about an amazing wood 18:12 “Ivory”   6 (or 7?) references to Solomon (1K 10:18, 22, 2Chr 9:17, 21, Psa 45:8(?), Song 5:14, 7:4 Other refs probably significant to apostasy too, such as Ahab’s ivory palace and Ezek 27 references) 18:12 “marble”Only occ. in NT Song 5:15 “His legs are as pillars of marble...” This is the only occ. of this Greek word in the LXX – a ref to Solomon’s legs 18:13 “Cinnamon” Prov 7:17Song 4:14
Only 3 refs in OT, 2 of them are in Solomon’s writings 18:13 “spice, incense, perfume (myrrh) frankincense” 10:10, 25 “Never again did such abundance of spices come in as that which the queen of Sheba gave King Solomon.” There is a lot more to look here.
Myrrh and frankincense appear to be especially referred to in the context of Solomon 18:13 horses & chariots 10:28:29 “Also Solomon's import of horses was from Egypt and Kue, and the king's merchants procured {them} from Kue for a price. And a chariot was imported from Egypt for 600 {shekels} of silver, and a horse for 150; and by the same means they exported them to all the kings of the Hittites and to the kings of the Arameans.”
This was Solomon’s main business! 18:13 slaves 9:15-22 Solomon noted for slavery of the aliens in his kingdom. This may have even eventually included some Israelites (1Kings 11:28) 18:17-19 “every shipmaster and every passenger and sailor, and as many as make their living by the sea”“in which all who had ships at sea became rich by her wealth” 10:22, etc. “For the king had at sea the ships of Tarshish with the ships of Hiram...”
Another characteristic of Solomon was his ships. 2:20 Jezebel(of Zidon) 11:1, 5, 33 Worship of Zidonian god mentioned 3 times
