Juliashmoolia and Forum,
Do we believe in the existence of angelic or celestial beings?
Do we believe in the visitation of Gabriel to Marry revealing the comming of the son?
Do we believe in the resurrection and acention (in a new immortal form) of Jesus?
Then consider something, another angle on Adam and Eve. What if the ancient creation story that survived until it was incorporated into the story of the Hebrew's, was acturally the re-creation of Adam and Eve over a 6 day period and not the creation of the world?
If Jesus was resurrected in a new immortal form then could Adam and Eve have been celestial beings recreated into a mortal form? Coming in part for the rehabilitation of a world that had long since fallen?
I see all sorts of clues in Genesis to a much larger story, a prepopulated earth, biological consequences for partaking of the fruit that was "pleasing to the eye", punishment specific to Adam and Eve as well as "the beast".
So, is it possible that the creation story was specific to the creation of Adam and Eve and not the world? That the stature of A&E, their failure, repentence and subsiquent spiritual leniage was important enough to the decendants of "the land of Nod" that they incorporate those events into their religious history?

But seriously, are there any thoughts from the more progressive members of the board?
