Robert. Can you tell me what you believe about the Holy Spirit indwelling please. Start another thread if you wish.

Thank you Huldah for your question.

Of course I believe the Holy Spirit dwells in us. If He does not, then we are not Christian.

The NT is full of it, here are Paul's words.

2Ti 1:14
...That good thing which was committed to you, keep by the Holy Spirit who dwells in us.
1Cr 6:19
...Or do you not know that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit [who is] in you, whom you have from God, and you are not your own?
Rom 8:9
...But you are not in the flesh but in the Spirit, if indeed the Spirit of God dwells in you. Now if anyone does not have the Spirit of Christ, he is not His.
Rom 8:10
...And if Christ [is] in you, the body [is] dead because of sin, but the Spirit [is] life because of righteousness.
Rom 8:11
...But if the Spirit of Him who raised Jesus from the dead dwells in you, He who raised Christ from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through His Spirit who dwells in you.

I think people who say otherwise should be avoided, It makes me wonder if they are believers.

I have written a couple of books. "Theological Heresies That Shaped World History," and "Understanding the Biblical Rapture."

I you or anyone so desires, I would be happy to send as attachment either or both if your pc's memory can handle them. The first is 150.000 + words and the second is over 50.000.

Of if you wish, I can send the table of contents and you can choose whatever looks interesting.

May the Lord bless you Huldah

Robert

You haven't explained your understanding of those verses. What do you think it means to be indwelt by the Holy Spirit?

Thank you Robert. I notice that you have only quoted New Testament verses. Why is that?
"I have not spoken in secret,
In a dark place of the earth;
I did not say to the seed of Jacob,
‘Seek Me in vain.’"

Thank you Robert. I notice that you have only quoted New Testament verses. Why is that?

Because the Holy Spirit did not come to indwell all believers until the beginning of the New Covenant at Pentecost. See Jo. 16:7-8.

You still haven't explained what you think this indwelling of the Holy Spirit means.

But the Holy Spirit did indwell believers before the New Testament. What do you have to say about that?

Only on special occasions such as the prophets and David who was a prophet who said:

"Do not cast me away from Your presence, And do not take Your Holy Spirit from me" (Ps. 51:11).

In Lk3:16 John said when the Lord came He would baptize them with the Holy Spirit and fire. Of course between the Holy Spirit and fire has been two thousand years. When He said He would baptize them with the Holy Spirit, it is an indication that at that time all were not receiving the Holy Spirit. But when that time comes as Peter said quoting from Joel, He will pour out His Spirit on all flesh; of course, he is speaking of all who survive the tribulation and are admitted into the kingdo (Acts 2:17).

I would also like to know how you define it. What changes in you, how do you differentiate between those who have the indwelling and those who don't? Is there criteria, or is it a case of "I just know and if you had the spirit in you then you would know" ?

How many times will the spirit be sent to the believers? Does the HS indwell in the believer forever? Does the HS not come and go in and out of the believers?
I only believe and trust God in the reality of His existence.

This is for those who are eager to know more about the indwelling of the Holy Spirit

Joh 3:8 The wind bloweth where it listeth, and thou hearest the sound thereof, but canst not tell whence it cometh, and whither it goeth: so is every one that is born of the Spirit.
Eph 3:20 Now unto him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us,

I am sure that they get it now.
