What the Bible teaches about Resurrection & Judgment

Posted by Matt Smith , 24 December 2007 · 3,453 views

As shown in the post about Man, man is mortal, and when he dies he ceases to exist. His only hope is ressurection from the dead.

Man falls into four categories in Scripture.

  • Man in his normal state is a perishing creature. If he remains in ignorance of God's word, he will live and die and cease to exist (perish). The implication of this is that any who have died in ignorance of God's word will remain that way, whether they be infants, young children, the mentally deficient or the average man. - Genesis 3:19; Ecclesiastes 3:18-20; Psalm 49:12-14, 20; 146:3-4; Romans 2:12; 2 Corinthians 4:3; Ephesians 2:11-12; 1 Thessalonians 4:13; 2 Thessalonians 1:8; 2 Peter 3:9
  • Man that hears and rejects the Word of God will, if he dies before the return of Christ, be raised to condemnation, and if he is still living will be brought to judgment and condemnation. - Matthew 7:24-26; John 12:48; Luke 13:27, 28; Romans 1:18-32; 2:8-9; 2 Thessalonians 1:8
  • Man that hears, obeys and then falls away will, if he dies before the return of Christ, be raised to condemnation, and if he is still living will be brought to judgment and condemnation. - Daniel 12:2; Romans 1:18-32; 2:8-9; 2 Thessalonians 1:8; Hebrews 10:26-29; 1 Peter 4:17-18
  • Man that hears and obeys and remains faithful will, if he dies before the return of Christ, be raised, judged and give life eternal, and if he is still living will be brought to judgment and given life eternal. - Daniel 12:2; Romans 2:7, 10; 1 Corinthians 15:51-54; Galatians 3:27, 29; 1 Peter 1:7; 2 Peter 1:4

When does this judgment take place? As stated above, all of this happens at the return of Christ. - Matthew 16:27; 25:31-46; Mark 8:38; Luke 9:26 2 Timothy 4:1, 8; 2 Thessalonians 1:7-9; 2:8; Revelation 22:12

Only man's body is mortal,
Man is a Spirit who has a soul,[The mind, will and emotions] They make up man's soul. And man lives in a body.
At death, Only the body dies, The spirit and soul live on in the place we have chosen while we are still on the earth.
Here are some scriptures that prove man lives on after death.
Luke 16: 19--28. 2 Cor 5: 1--8. Phil 1: 21--23. Rev 6: 9--10. REv 7: 9--15.

When the Ecclesiastes 9: 5, says the dead know not anything, The hewbrew meaning is, "They don't know what is going on, On the earth.
AS the above scriptures prove man still have his memory after death.

As for Ecc 3: 18--20, The people of that time believed in the after life,
See v 21.

We are spirit soul and body, 1 Thess 5: 23.
