Commandments to forgive others

Ephesians 4v32 And be ye kind one to another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God for Christ's sake hath forgiven you.

Colossians 3v13 Forbearing one another, and forgiving one another, if any man have a quarrel against any: even as Christ forgave you, so also do ye.

Forgiving brothers

Matthew 18v15 Moreover if thy brother shall trespass against thee, go and tell him his fault between thee and him alone: if he shall hear thee, thou hast gained thy brother.
18v16 But if he will not hear thee, then take with thee one or two more, that in the mouth of two or three witnesses every word may be established.
18v17 And if he shall neglect to hear them, tell it unto the church: but if he neglect to hear the church, let him be unto thee as an heathen man and a publican.
18v18 Verily I say unto you, Whatsoever ye shall bind on earth shall be bound in heaven: and whatsoever ye shall loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven.
18v19 Again I say unto you, That if two of you shall agree on earth as touching any thing that they shall ask, it shall be done for them of my Father which is in heaven.
18v20 For where two or three are gathered together in my name, there am I in the midst of them.
18v21 Then came Peter to him, and said, Lord, how oft shall my brother sin against me, and I forgive him? till seven times?
18v22 Jesus saith unto him, I say not unto thee, Until seven times: but, Until seventy times seven.
18v23 Therefore is the kingdom of heaven likened unto a certain king, which would take account of his servants.
18v24 And when he had begun to reckon, one was brought unto him, which owed him ten thousand talents.
18v25 But forasmuch as he had not to pay, his lord commanded him to be sold, and his wife, and children, and all that he had, and payment to be made.
18v26 The servant therefore fell down, and worshipped him, saying, Lord, have patience with me, and I will pay thee all.
18v27 Then the lord of that servant was moved with compassion, and loosed him, and forgave him the debt.
18v28 But the same servant went out, and found one of his fellowservants, which owed him an hundred pence: and he laid hands on him, and took him by the throat, saying, Pay me that thou owest.
18v29 And his fellowservant fell down at his feet, and besought him, saying, Have patience with me, and I will pay thee all.
18v30 And he would not: but went and cast him into prison, till he should pay the debt.
18v31 So when his fellowservants saw what was done, they were very sorry, and came and told unto their lord all that was done.
18v32 Then his lord, after that he had called him, said unto him, O thou wicked servant, I forgave thee all that debt, because thou desiredst me:
18v33 Shouldest not thou also have had compassion on thy fellowservant, even as I had pity on thee?
18v34 And his lord was wroth, and delivered him to the tormentors, till he should pay all that was due unto him.
18v35 So likewise shall my heavenly Father do also unto you, if ye from your hearts forgive not every one his brother their trespasses.

Luke 17v3 Take heed to yourselves: If thy brother trespass against thee, rebuke him; and if he repent, forgive him.
17v4 And if he trespass against thee seven times in a day, and seven times in a day turn again to thee, saying, I repent; thou shalt forgive him.

2 Corinthians 2v7 So that contrariwise ye ought rather to forgive him, and comfort him, lest perhaps such a one should be swallowed up with overmuch sorrow.
2v8 Wherefore I beseech you that ye would confirm your love toward him.
2v9 For to this end also did I write, that I might know the proof of you, whether ye be obedient in all things.
2v10 To whom ye forgive any thing, I forgive also: for if I forgave any thing, to whom I forgave it, for your sakes forgave I it in the person of Christ;

God's forgiveness is conditional

Mark 11v25 And when ye stand praying, forgive, if ye have ought against any: that your Father also which is in heaven may forgive you your trespasses.

Do not seek revenge

Romans 12v19 Dearly beloved, avenge not yourselves, but rather give place unto wrath: for it is written, Vengeance is mine; I will repay, saith the Lord.

1 Peter 3v9 Not rendering evil for evil, or railing for railing: but contrariwise blessing; knowing that ye are thereunto called, that ye should inherit a blessing.

Examples of forgiveness

Genesis 50v17 So shall ye say unto Joseph, Forgive, I pray thee now, the trespass of thy brethren, and their sin; for they did unto thee evil: and now, we pray thee, forgive the trespass of the servants of the God of thy father. And Joseph wept when they spake unto him.
50v18 And his brethren also went and fell down before his face; and they said, Behold, we be thy servants.
50v19 And Joseph said unto them, Fear not: for am I in the place of God?
50v20 But as for you, ye thought evil against me; but God meant it unto good, to bring to pass, as it is this day, to save much people alive.
50v21 Now therefore fear ye not: I will nourish you, and your little ones. And he comforted them, and spake kindly unto them.

Numbers 12v1 And Miriam and Aaron spake against Moses because of the Ethiopian woman whom he had married: for he had married an Ethiopian woman.
12v2 And they said, Hath the LORD indeed spoken only by Moses? hath he not spoken also by us? And the LORD heard it.
12v3 (Now the man Moses was very meek, above all the men which were upon the face of the earth.)
12v4 And the LORD spake suddenly unto Moses, and unto Aaron, and unto Miriam, Come out ye three unto the tabernacle of the congregation. And they three came out.
12v5 And the LORD came down in the pillar of the cloud, and stood in the door of the tabernacle, and called Aaron and Miriam: and they both came forth.
12v6 And he said, Hear now my words: If there be a prophet among you, I the LORD will make myself known unto him in a vision, and will speak unto him in a dream.
12v7 My servant Moses is not so, who is faithful in all mine house.
12v8 With him will I speak mouth to mouth, even apparently, and not in dark speeches; and the similitude of the LORD shall he behold: wherefore then were ye not afraid to speak against my servant Moses?
12v9 And the anger of the LORD was kindled against them; and he departed.
12v10 And the cloud departed from off the tabernacle; and, behold, Miriam became leprous, white as snow: and Aaron looked upon Miriam, and, behold, she was leprous.
12v11 And Aaron said unto Moses, Alas, my lord, I beseech thee, lay not the sin upon us, wherein we have done foolishly, and wherein we have sinned.
12v12 Let her not be as one dead, of whom the flesh is half consumed when he cometh out of his mother's womb.
12v13 And Moses cried unto the LORD, saying, Heal her now, O God, I beseech thee.

Numbers 14v19 Pardon, I beseech thee, the iniquity of this people according unto the greatness of thy mercy, and as thou hast forgiven this people, from Egypt even until now.
14v20 And the LORD said, I have pardoned according to thy word:

Acts 7v60 And he kneeled down, and cried with a loud voice, Lord, lay not this sin to their charge. And when he had said this, he fell asleep.
