Unconsciousness in Death

Psalms 6v5 For in death there is no remembrance of thee: in the grave who shall give thee thanks?

Psalms 88v10 Wilt thou shew wonders to the dead? shall the dead arise and praise thee? Selah.
88v11 Shall thy lovingkindness be declared in the grave? or thy faithfulness in destruction?
88v12 Shall thy wonders be known in the dark? and thy righteousness in the land of forgetfulness?

Psalms 115v17 The dead praise not the LORD, neither any that go down into silence.

Psalms 146v3 Put not your trust in princes, nor in the son of man, in whom there is no help.
146v4 His breath goeth forth, he returneth to his earth; in that very day his thoughts perish.

Ecclesiastes 9v1 For all this I considered in my heart even to declare all this, that the righteous, and the wise, and their works, are in the hand of God: no man knoweth either love or hatred by all that is before them.
9v2 All things come alike to all: there is one event to the righteous, and to the wicked; to the good and to the clean, and to the unclean; to him that sacrificeth, and to him that sacrificeth not: as is the good, so is the sinner; and he that sweareth, as he that feareth an oath.
9v3 This is an evil among all things that are done under the sun, that there is one event unto all: yea, also the heart of the sons of men is full of evil, and madness is in their heart while they live, and after that they go to the dead.
9v4 For to him that is joined to all the living there is hope: for a living dog is better than a dead lion.
9v5 For the living know that they shall die: but the dead know not any thing, neither have they any more a reward; for the memory of them is forgotten.
9v6 Also their love, and their hatred, and their envy, is now perished; neither have they any more a portion for ever in any thing that is done under the sun.
9v7 Go thy way, eat thy bread with joy, and drink thy wine with a merry heart; for God now accepteth thy works.
9v8 Let thy garments be always white; and let thy head lack no ointment.
9v9 Live joyfully with the wife whom thou lovest all the days of the life of thy vanity, which he hath given thee under the sun, all the days of thy vanity: for that is thy portion in this life, and in thy labour which thou takest under the sun.
9v10 Whatsoever thy hand findeth to do, do it with thy might; for there is no work, nor device, nor knowledge, nor wisdom, in the grave, whither thou goest.

Turning to Dust

Genesis 3v17 And unto Adam he said, Because thou hast hearkened unto the voice of thy wife, and hast eaten of the tree, of which I commanded thee, saying, Thou shalt not eat of it: cursed is the ground for thy sake; in sorrow shalt thou eat of it all the days of thy life;
3v18 Thorns also and thistles shall it bring forth to thee; and thou shalt eat the herb of the field;
3v19 In the sweat of thy face shalt thou eat bread, till thou return unto the ground; for out of it wast thou taken: for dust thou art, and unto dust shalt thou return.

Job 10v9 Remember, I beseech thee, that thou hast made me as the clay; and wilt thou bring me into dust again?

Job 34v15 All flesh shall perish together, and man shall turn again unto dust.

Psalms 90v3 Thou turnest man to destruction; and sayest, Return, ye children of men.

Psalms 104v29 Thou hidest thy face, they are troubled: thou takest away their breath, they die, and return to their dust.

Death as a Sleep

Deuteronomy 31v16 And the LORD said unto Moses, Behold, thou shalt sleep with thy fathers; and this people will rise up, and go a whoring after the gods of the strangers of the land, whither they go to be among them, and will forsake me, and break my covenant which I have made with them.

Job 7v21 And why dost thou not pardon my transgression, and take away my iniquity? for now shall I sleep in the dust; and thou shalt seek me in the morning, but I shall not be.

Job 14v12 So man lieth down, and riseth not: till the heavens be no more, they shall not awake, nor be raised out of their sleep.

Psalms 13v3 Consider and hear me, O LORD my God: lighten mine eyes, lest I sleep the sleep of death;
