Nehemiah
8v1 And all the people gathered themselves together as one man
into the street that was before the water gate; and they spake
unto Ezra the scribe to bring the book of the law of Moses,
which the LORD had commanded to Israel.
2 And Ezra the priest brought the law before the congregation
both of men and women, and all that could hear with understanding,
upon the first day of the seventh month.
3 And he read therein before the street that was before the
water gate from the morning until midday, before the men and
the women, and those that could understand; and the ears of
all the people were attentive unto the book of the law.
4 And Ezra the scribe stood upon a pulpit of wood, which they
had made for the purpose; and beside him stood Mattithiah, and
Shema, and Anaiah, and Urijah, and Hilkiah, and Maaseiah, on
his right hand; and on his left hand, Pedaiah, and Mishael,
and Malchiah, and Hashum, and Hashbadana, Zechariah, and Meshullam.
5 And Ezra opened the book in the sight of all the people; (for
he was above all the people;) and when he opened it, all the
people stood up:
6 And Ezra blessed the LORD, the great God. And all the people
answered, Amen, Amen, with lifting up their hands: and they
bowed their heads, and worshipped the LORD with their faces
to the ground.
7 Also Jeshua, and Bani, and Sherebiah, Jamin, Akkub, Shabbethai,
Hodijah, Maaseiah, Kelita, Azariah, Jozabad, Hanan, Pelaiah,
and the Levites, caused the people to understand the law: and
the people stood in their place.
8 So they read in the book in the law of God distinctly, and
gave the sense, and caused them to understand the reading.
9 And Nehemiah, which is the Tirshatha, and Ezra the priest
the scribe, and the Levites that taught the people, said unto
all the people, This day is holy unto the LORD your God; mourn
not, nor weep. For all the people wept, when they heard the
words of the law.
10 Then he said unto them, Go your way, eat the fat, and drink
the sweet, and send portions unto them for whom nothing is prepared:
for this day is holy unto our LORD: neither be ye sorry; for
the joy of the LORD is your strength.
11 So the Levites stilled all the people, saying, Hold your
peace, for the day is holy; neither be ye grieved.
12 And all the people went their way to eat, and to drink, and
to send portions, and to make great mirth, because they had
understood the words that were declared unto them. Proverbs 28v9 He that turneth away his ear
from hearing the law, even his prayer shall be abomination.
2 Timothy 3v16 All scripture is given by inspiration
of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction,
for instruction in righteousness:
17 That the man of God may be perfect, throughly furnished
unto all good works.
Matthew 7v7 Ask, and it shall be given you;
seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto
you:
James 1v5 If any of you lack wisdom, let him
ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth
not; and it shall be given him.
Joshua 1v8 This book of the law shall not
depart out of thy mouth; but thou shalt meditate therein day
and night, that thou mayest observe to do according to all
that is written therein: for then thou shalt make thy way
prosperous, and then thou shalt have good success.
Deuteronomy 11v18 Therefore shall ye lay up
these my words in your heart and in your soul, and bind them
for a sign upon your hand, that they may be as frontlets between
your eyes.
19 And ye shall teach them your children, speaking of them
when thou sittest in thine house, and when thou walkest by
the way, when thou liest down, and when thou risest up.
20 And thou shalt write them upon the door posts of thine
house, and upon thy gates:
21 That your days may be multiplied, and the days of your
children, in the land which the LORD sware unto your fathers
to give them, as the days of heaven upon the earth.
Psalms 119v147 I prevented the dawning of
the morning, and cried: I hoped in thy word.
148 Mine eyes prevent the night watches, that I might meditate
in thy word.
Philippians 1v27 Only let your conversation
be as it becometh the gospel of Christ: that whether I come
and see you, or else be absent, I may hear of your affairs,
that ye stand fast in one spirit, with one mind striving together
for the faith of the gospel;
Acts 1v16 Men and brethren, this scripture
must needs have been fulfilled, which the Holy Ghost by the
mouth of David spake before concerning Judas, which was guide
to them that took Jesus.
17 For he was numbered with us, and had obtained part of this
ministry.
18 Now this man purchased a field with the reward of iniquity;
and falling headlong, he burst asunder in the midst, and all
his bowels gushed out.
19 And it was known unto all the dwellers at Jerusalem; insomuch
as that field is called in their proper tongue, Aceldama,
that is to say, The field of blood.
20 For it is written in the book of Psalms, Let his habitation
be desolate, and let no man dwell therein: and his bishoprick
let another take.
John 13v18 I speak not of you all: I know
whom I have chosen: but that the scripture may be fulfilled,
He that eateth bread with me hath lifted up his heel against
me.
