Ye Servants of the Lord

by Harry Tennant

Service

Godly service is the spirit of the Lord Jesus Christ. This applies as much to each aspect of ecclesial life as it does to the manner of our personal devotion. He who was Lord and Master was at the same time the chief servant of our God.

It will not do to be slipshod in our ecclesial life. We should render diligent and acceptable service to the best of our abilities even though those may be limited. This does not mean that the execution of our duties shall be slick or savour of those methods of business efficiency which lack warmth, moral fibre and the personal touch. It does mean that our work shall be carried out with an awareness that it is for the Lord.

All of us are involved in this : some of us are called to special tasks : all of us need help. The following chapters originally appeared in The Christadelphian and have been slightly adapted for presentation in this form. They are offered for the use of fellow-servants in the hope that our worship shall thereby be helped.

1. Doorkeepers
2. The Treasury of the Lord
3. As well the Singers as the Players on Instruments
4. The President
5. Give Attendance to Reading
  6. The Work of the Elders: Tending the Flock of God
7.If Ye have any Word of Exhortation
8. Old Heads and Young Shoulders
9. For All are Thy Servants
